Your Local Bowling Club
MERTON BOWLING CLUB
We are a mixed lawn bowls club and invite men and lady players of all abilities, including beginners, to come and join our friendly club. Bowls in Merton is well established and Merton Bowling Club is the oldest club, founded in 1909. Our season runs from the end of April until the beginning of October. Merton Bowling Club also has an active link with Joseph Hood Primary School to provide coaching and support for the annual primary schools' championship. This provides young students with an insight into a sport where age has no limitation and helps promote cross-generation contact.
A stalwart of the club, a member for over twenty years and the club captain for the majority of that time. Duncan can be contacted on 07971582695.
Since joining the club in 2018 Richard has helped a number of new bowlers understand the aspects of the sport and welcomes you to Merton Bowls Club.
Tina has been Secretary of the club for the past three years. She is an active bowler and qualified sports coach.
FUN AND FRIENDLY ATMOSTPHERE
We have a licensed bar and run a number of social events each season including a BBQ, Bowls Fun Day and Quiz.
We also run a number of internal club championship competitions for players of all abilities which culminate in a finals day in September and a trophy presentation event after the annual Captain’s versus President’s match.
WEEKLY INTERNAL LEAGUE
We can provide new and seasoned bowlers with coaching and on each Tuesday we run an internal mixed ballot league. This gives everyone the opportunity, in a friendly, fun environment, to try out all the positions within a team.
DISTRICT LEAGUE MATCHES
We run all our matches with mixed gender teams and currently we play in three leagues: Wimbledon & District Weekend League, Wimbledon & District Midweek Triples League and Kingston & District Mixed League (some weekends and some midweek).
"We are a warm-hearted competitive club with a welcoming social atmosphere"
